This position offers you the unique opportunity to learn new processes for a premier supplier to the defense industry recognized as the only manufacturer of large deep draw steel cartridge cases in the world. We are re-locating our manufacturing facilities from California to the grounds of the Rock Island Arsenal -- the U.S. Army's largest metal manufacturing facility -- which we expect will create opportunities to expand our outstanding relationship with the US Army. That means not only will you work with state of the art equipment, but you also will be involved with development projects in the future.
You will provide manufacturing engineering support for processes, products and machinery, including cold drawing of steel. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have significant experience in heavy metal manufacturing environments and general knowledge of good machine shop practices (we produce our own tooling). You will work in our current facility in Riverbank, California (near Modesto) until the equipment arrives in Rock Island, and we expect the move will take place in May or June 2010. In addition you will travel up to 10% of the time to visit vendor sites. You must be able to present authorization to reside and work in the United States to hold this position.

You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager long term and initially the Program Manager, and join a fairly small group supporting manufacturing processes. These processes include press work, machining, heat treatment, annealing and plating. Products go through several drawing, forming, annealing, and other operations.
Right off the start you'll contribute to the facility transfer project, but the role's overall mission is to provide manufacturing engineering support for processes, products and machinery. Quick question for you - click here This will include troubleshooting and we'll look to you to develop solutions in-house more often than turning to off-the-shelf solutions. You also will ensure we comply with the client's specifications and our own quality standards. While we have well defined processes, we're always looking for ways to improve.
